Season 1, Episode 7: "Ghost in the Machine"

Funnily enough, this episode is not about the album by The Police, nor about Cartesian mind-body dualism… weird.  
  
Instead, when a man is killed in a smart building under mysterious circumstances, a former partner of Mulder’s comes to him for help. The most obvious suspect is the company’s disgruntled computer genius founder, who might have used the company’s smart operating system to commit murder. Mulder and Scully need to figure out if this scruffy programmer is an evil genius or if his AI has a life of its own.  
  
We know it’s totally reverse-engineered alien technology, right?
