A series of brutal murders all share a particularly grisly characteristic: each victim has had their heart cut out. Kolchak discovers that the murders are all connected to a modern-day Aztec cult that has been preparing for the apocalypse for centuries, and now Kolchak has to stop the final sacrifice before the cult revives the ancient mummified corpse of its Aztec leader.
