Strange deaths appear to match the descriptions of spontaneous human combustion, but all the victims are associates of a famous conductor who has been seen at all the crimes BUT has eyewitnesses, including Kolchak, that put him elsewhere during the mysterious fires! After a close call of his own, Kolchak comes to believe that a murderous doppelgänger is trying to take over the conductor’s life. Now Kolchak just has to figure out who the doppelgänger really is before he is added to their growing list of victims.
